A market town situated on the river Lune. You can easily spend a whole afternoon visiting the wide range of independent shops, boutiques. There is a good selection of restaurants .
Hawes
Hawes is a little further afield but still within a 30 minute drive, The magical little market town of Hawes, which featured on the Channel 5 Jane McDonald: My Yorkshire is home to the world famous Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. It was first recorded as a market place in 1307 and the lively Tuesday market still entices shoppers in.
Settle
A market town from is packed full of fascinating local and independent shops, galleries and cafes. The area surrounding the town is full of opportunities for outdoor activities with walking, biking, caving and climbing all easily accessible. The countryside is beautiful with views towards Pen-y-Ghent and across the pretty, stoned walled meadows. You can take a train ride on the famous Settle- Carlisle train line that cross the famous Ribblehead Viaduct
Lake District
As well as the Dales the stunning Lake District can be easily reached for day trips. Places like Hill Top & Beatrix Potter’s House can be reached in less than an hour, as can Lake Windermere.
